This device is designed to improve the acquisition and tracking of fast moving objects while shooting through a long telephoto lens. The end result is more photos of the subject within the frame, improved autofocus tracking, and ultimately more tack sharp photos.
The new Tracker 2.0 has several improvements over the original design.
The light source is significantly brighter making the marking spot easier to see in bright sunlight and in backlit situations. This is most noticeable when using the green color source.
The External Sight Mount or ESM has been redesigned. The manufacturing process has been updated to improve the strength of the unit. It is still designed to break if dropped rather than transmit the force to the camera hot shot and damaging that expensive mounting point. However the construction is now isometric, meaning there are no fracture planes typically found in 3-D printed products. This means the unit can be left permanently attached to the camera (unless the user thinks direct impact to the Tracker could occur during transport).
The ESM now incorporates a magnetic holder for the hex wrench adjustment tool. No more hunting for this in your pockets or losing it all together.
The ESM foot has also been redesigned for better hot shoe fit as well as a better fit to the dot sight body and 20mm rail clamp.
