Ideal for advanced high school, biology, college, veterinarian, medical, or technical applications, the Celestron Labs CB1000CF 40-1000x Compound Binocular Microscope is outfitted with a binocular head set at a comfortable 45° angle to its body for a natural and comfortable viewing position and can rotate a full 360°, so a lab group can easily share it without having to move. The head is equipped with dual wide-field 10x eyepieces that, when combined with the objectives, produce magnifications from 40x to 1000x. To facilitate easier slide and specimen changes, the four-position nosepiece is set in a reverse position, so the unused objectives face away from the user.
Its dual-speed rack-and-pinion focuser provides a fast and easy way to achieve tack-sharp views. A large stage has integrated rulers and a slide/specimen holder to make it easy to view a variety of specimen types. The lower LED light is directed through a 1.25 N.A. Abbe condenser with an iris diaphragm to give you extreme control of the light coming through to the stage. To help improve views and contrast through a variety of specimen types, Celestron includes three colored filters that can be easily installed and removed as needed. The microscope is powered by an included AC power adapter that comes with a set of four outlet plug adapters for both domestic and international use.
Use and Handling
- Binocular eyepiece configuration makes it easier and more comfortable to use versus monocular heads
- Adjustable interpupillary distance allows users of different sizes to comfortably share the microscope
- Eyepieces are set at a 45° angle to place user's head in a comfortable viewing position
- Head can rotate a full 360° to make sharing in a lab or around a table easier and more efficient
- Quad-objective turret is mounted in reverse position to facilitate ease in changing slides
- Color-coded objectives provide fast identification of the selected magnification
Optical Performance
- Dual 10x wide field eyepieces maximize light throughput for bright and clear views
- Point in eyepiece view provides the ability to draw attention to certain aspects of the sample for instructive purposes
- Dioptric correction on each eyepiece ensures tack-sharp views for any user, even those who normally wear eyeglasses
- Four magnification choices provide a wide range for a variety of applications: 40x, 100x, 400x, 1000x
- 4x, 10x, 40x, and 100x achromatic objectives
- Achromatic objectives correct spherical and chromatic aberration, so the color fidelity of the specimen will be accurate and the field of view will appear flat with the only perceptible curvature at the edges
- 100x objective is designed for oil immersion viewing, Type B High-viscosity Cedar wood immersion oil included
Stage and Illumination
- Two-speed coarse and fine rack-and-pinion focusing mechanism ensures tack-sharp views for all users
- X-Y stage adjustments enable precise specimen position over condenser and under objectives
- 4.3 x 4.7" stage easily holds specimens other than slides
- Rulers on both X and Y axes enable measurement of specimens
- Built-in slide/specimen holder designed with one-handed operation in mind
- 1.25 NA Abbe condenser and iris-style diaphragm allows user to improve their subject's contrast for better views
- Variable-intensity lower LED illuminator provides transmitted specimen illumination
- Blue, white opaque, and green colored filters included to enhance the view and contrast of various specimens
- Set of 10 prepared slides lets users start learning microscopy right out of the box
- Included 100-240 VAC power plug with A, C, G, and I plug adapters for use in the US, Japan, Europe, UK, Australia, New Zealand, China, Argentina
