Join Berger Brother's for this full day, live hockey shoot and seminar with legendary Sports Photographer Bruce Bennett! For more than 50 years, Bruce Bennett has recorded the history of hockey in still imagery. During that time, Bruce has covered over 5,500 NHL and international hockey games, including games in 54 different NHL arenas, and five Olympic Games. This seminar will cover the basics as well as the advanced techniques that Bruce has used through his many years as a professional hockey photographer. This includes the use of strobes in the rafters of arenas, and the usage of a multitude of remote cameras including the ‘netcam’ or camera inside the hockey net. The talk will be punctuated with visible examples of the many techniques professionals use for capturing the sport along with a smattering of hockey related video presentations. This half-day course will end with a presentation on the typical game day routine of a sports photographer including the capturing of images, Photoshop, captioning and uploading of images to newspapers and wire services.
The day will start at 10:30am with the lecture discussion portion until 1pm at Berger Bros Camera. Then there will be an hour lunch break from 1-2pm. At 2pm we will reconvene at Ice Works (175 Underhill Blvd, Syosset, NY 11791), where we will have hands on photographing at a rink from 2-3:30pm. Afterwards we will meet back up at Berger Bros Camera for further critique and discussion and finish up by 5pm.
